I've got to say Tumblin’ Dice were really up for it on the night and played a blinder, thoroughly entertaining band it had been a while since I had watched these guys and in all honesty I can remember them being good but not this good and with the crowd behind them they were going from strength to strength and obviously loving every minute of it.
Four great musicians here and they probably would be the first to say not the youngest kids on the block but what you're getting here are seasoned and experienced players with a good range of material, hell!! even the wife loved these and she can take some pleasing!

Almost Cut My Hair " originally performed by CSNY , Not a song I have ever heard played by anyone until last night,TUMBLIN' DICE played two great sets at Steels, classic rock with a lot of stuff that is not the norm. Queen, Nazareth, Wishbone Ash, Alice Cooper, The Cult, Stillwater and CSNY, to name a few. Great vocals from Mike who also plays keys on some tracks, lovely tone and great playing on the lead guitar from Mike and ably assisted on bass and drums by Andy and Dave. Once again not a lot in for such a good band, check them out next time they are in the area, sure you will like them.

TUMBLIN' DICE @ Nikhs Bar, Blyth by Paul & Bernie
Two things you wont hear in the same sentence Nikhs and Bad Band ! This place always seems to come up trumps with the band selections so fair play to who ever books em, we ain't seen a bad one yet and pleased to say tonight was nee excepshun wor kid.
Regular readers will know that we are becoming slightly $%ssed off with the local band scene ,and sick of hearing the same set lists churned out over and over again, it seems at times that its a case of same music- different band ,so we are not attending as many gigs these days or we are being more selective.
So glad to say Tumbling Dice were a little different regards the set list which we are giving 9 oota 10 (well they did play that old chestnut Radar Love and down to the docs) however the rest of the set list was different and varied compared to a lot of bands and we experienced a refreshing change
The band are very professional and obviously by the bond they have on stage very accomplished musicians, the singer has been around a while and it shows in his professionalism and the way he delivers each song, and were sure we,ve seen the drummer before but cant quite remember which band, the bass and lead were great (5 string bass was a bit different!)
They covered Faith Healer a great crowd pleaser and as great chefs have signature dishes we believe this to be Alex Harveys signature tune and it had the crowd singing along, its a great crowd at nikhs who love their rock. A song we had not heard but immensely enjoyed was Mind Bender by Stillwater, Forst Time we had hord this in a pub so fair play to the lads, Another song most bands never touch (although Tubesnake do a great rendition too) was Bowies /Ronsons Moonage Daydream .We enjoyed She's Not There which leant towards Santanas version (the superior one) rather than the Zombies oringinal. Throw in some Nazareth/ Cooper /Queen and you get the drift ,also the bands version of Message In a Bottle was done with some style,
much more of this and our faith in the local pub gig scene may even be restored, Not huge fans of the 60s ,but really enjoyed Heart Full Of Soul by the Yardbirds, its funny how some great songs are just lying dormant, probably the first time we have heard this song covered , and that about sums up the band, they are not afraid to deliver something slightly different and they have the ability to carry it off, being selfish we know they cover Lil Devil by the Cult but didn't do it on the night ,but we'll be back to see em in the hope they do !!
They threw in a bit of AC/DC proving they could rock it with the best of them , the singer announced he was going to do a Bad Co song and we thought here we go, Bloody Feel Like Making Love, but once again he surprised us and they covered Moving On- how refreshingly different, and boy! were we relieved , Feel Like Making Love should now finally ,along with Alright Now be permanently Hoyed into Room 101, so If, like us you are sick of the same old cheese. perhaps an evening with Tumbling Dice may just tickle the Lugs

Tumblin’ Dice Review at the Quaker Bar in Darlington
Tumblin’ Dice are a four piece band of local lads in the Darlington area, and as the doorman informed us they have played here before and went down very well.
They consist of Martyn (drums) the youngest, a fantastic thumping heart, solid beat with a tight set and commanding the back line with majestic ease and all delivered with a smile.
Andy (Bass/Keyboard) we just love a bass player who is a real rocking player this guy was great to watch fully throwing himself into his music truly a fine talented bassist.
Mike (Lead Guitar) very quiet in statue, but a giant in fretwork showing what he is made of just when it counts, It just shows you that some guys who jump around the stage may show their presence but don't necessarily makegreat guitarists.
Last but not least Micky Willy (Vocals/keyboard) he has a great vocal voice together with a unique stage presence, tonight this guy performed and enticed the crowd with his own rendition of those classic seventies giving his passion within his actions aswell as his vocals
Tumblin Dice gelled together with a good nights entertainment had the crowd rocking. These guys certainly entertained. All in all a good nights entertainment
